During excavation of the footings for the Mirvac development of at 200 George St, Sydney, several first settlers aretfacts were unearthed. GML were commissioned to remove and interpret the collection. They analysed and selected around 150 objects to be displayed in and subcontracted Heights Heritage Conservation to complete the conservation and repair of the objects.
There were several shattered ceramic objects and our job was to clean them and piece them back together.
Many of the objects were missing pieces but the purpose and shape of the object was still communicated by adhering the remaining pieces together.
The cleaned and conserved objects were then mounted onto bespoke panels and installed in the public walkway between George and Pitt Street.
